What happened to Groupon's personality?
Of all companies, I was definitely expecting a great April Fool's joke from Groupon. Even their regular daily emails are funny, have that ridiculous fat cat Grouponicus with his gold medallion chain, and quirky way of describing boring deals. And isnt founder & CEO Andrew Mason supposed to be like really funny and plays elaborate pranks on his own team? What happened to all that? I received the following extremely-boring-format email of multiple daily deals (instead of one - I guess this is a new feature) on April Fool's day from Groupon. Seems like April Fool's would be the perfect "holiday" for a company like Groupon - I can think of lots of silly coupon ideas. But more importantly, where is the quirky personality and brand equity?
